FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER

Objective:

The Field Service Engineer position is a fabulous opportunity to join a leading Additive Manufacturing (AM) OEM, which pioneered metal AM technology, through the offering of cutting-edge technological printing solutions – to include a wide portfolio of production printers, state-of-the-art preparation software solutions and a long list of metal powders, designed to enable full-fledge production of end use aerospace, automotive, medical and many other challenging parts.

Position Description:

The Field Service Engineer provide support to our internal and external customers, by applying his or her knowledge and experience to the SLM Solutions printers. This position is primarily focused on field installation and field service, and the successful candidate will be responsible for installation of complete systems at customer locations throughout Asia and the Pacific.  Machine installation includes mechanical set-up, electrical hook-up, precision alignment, and establishing customer network interfaces. In addition, the Field Service Engineer, a position that reports directly to the Service Manager, is responsible for performing the following tasks:

• Provide technical support online and offline to existing machine customers
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, cooling, and gas systems to get machines running.
• Work with customer personnel during installation, training and commissioning of newly installed machines
• Provide initial and advanced, on the job customer training on the systems and software solutions
• Join meeting with customers to discuss and agree on installation scheduled, repair status and timing
• Communicate the installation or repair status frequently to the customer and the Service Manager
• Work closely with the Service Manager to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the installation of the machines

Travel: Required on occasion

Required Education & Experience:

• Engineering Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical. Electronic, Automation Technology or similar

• Strong Math skills

• Good computer skills

• Ability to read electrical schematics

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Although some of the work is performed at the customer’s locations locally in Singapore, the successful candidate must be willing and able to travel internationally up to 70% of his / her time, as and when required

• Have solid organizational skills

• Ability to work remotely, independently and cope well under pressure

• Valid driver’s license and good driving record

Additional Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience with 3D Printing technology

• Hands-on experience with automation systems in manufacturing plants

• Good command of a leading 3D CAD design environment

• Ability to communicate in German in addition to English would be considered a plus

• Skills in setting up computer hardware and software
